Year 3
Welcome to Year 3
Please see our timetable, knowledge organisers and topic webs below to find out what we are up to as we go through this very exciting year.
Our PE lessons are on a Monday and a Friday so please send your child into school wearing their school PE kit.
Reading is very important in our school and we hope the children will enjoy being read to at the end of each day by their class teacher. Each child in Year 3 has a reading record book in which they are encouraged to keep a daily log of their reading at home to an adult. Please ensure your child has their reading book and reading record in school every day so that we can read with them and change their books whenever is required. All reading records will be checked on a Friday with the aim of keeping children on track with their reading and helping them to achieve Bookworm status at the end of each month. Our Love of Reading sessions also provide an opportunity for children to enjoy lots of exciting reading activities and to choose/change their library books.

Maths homework will be set fortnightly (on a Wednesday). This will be sent home in your child's Learning Log and is required to be handed in the following Wednesday, allowing for it to be marked and the next activity to be set for the following week. This task will also be available on Seesaw (log-in details in the front of your child's Learning Log). A project-style activity will also be set once a half-term. This will be based on the topic your child has been learning and will allow them to share their new knowledge with you, as well as extending this with the use of research.
I will be in touch soon regarding the dates of when the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will take place in 2026. Preparation sessions for those children wishing to take part in this Sacramental Programme will begin at the start of the Spring Term 2026.
