English Policy
INTENT:
At St. Francis Xavier's School, we aim for ALL our children to become confident, fluent readers as well as nourishing and developing their personal preferences to foster a real LIFELONG love 
of reading.
A small amount of reading each day makes an incredible difference and the cost of not doing so is far too great!
Our 20 minute home/school reading pact!
We promise to read with your child for AT LEAST 10 minutes a day
AND
You match it by reading with your child for a further 10 minutes a day at home
10 mins at home + 10 mins at school = the MAGIC 20 mins a day!
Why do this?
IMPLEMENTATION
Year 4 - The children loved learning about The Firebird by Saviour Pirotta in their reading session. They discussed the book's dilemmas and made their own decisions about the action to take and why.
