At St Francis Xavier’s RC School every child’s welfare is our paramount concern
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility (KCSIE p. 5 para 2)
‘It could happen here.’ KCSIE p. 7 para 16
All schools have a statutory duty to have a Child Protection Policy. The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mrs Diana Pearce. The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) is Mrs Elizabeth Christopherson. Teaching staff and the business manager have been trained at the ‘Targeted Level’ for safeguarding. As a minimum, all staff as employees of the school are trained at the ‘Universal Level’ for safeguarding. The school complies with the local safeguarding board for children, West Midlands Safeguarding Children Procedures. Please follow this link:
We would also like to reassure you that we rarely share information with other agencies about your child without first speaking to you.
Even if we make the difficult decision that we need to speak to Social Care about your child, we will always undertake to share our intention to do so with you, unless we deem that to do so could put the child at greater risk of harm, or impede a criminal investigation.
We fully understand that this can be a very distressing set of circumstances but we can only reassure you that we follow the procedures required by the West Midlands Safeguarding Children's Board.
Please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Pearce should you have a worry or concern regarding a child protection or safeguarding issue.
